Welcome to this ‘Europe and African Security’ blog, which has two essential objectives:
– It will act as an interactive tool to prepare and follow up two EC-funded workshops looking at the European Union and the African Security Regime. The first of these workshops will take place on 20th and 21st October at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa, and will focus on institutional cooperation. The second workshop will take place during the first half of 2012 (exact date to be confirmed), once again at the University of the Witwatersrand.
– It will provide for a further platform for academics, practitioners and students interested in relations between Europe and African security to present their views and exchange ideas in the issue.
We look forward to your contributions.
Malte Brosig (Department of International Relations, University of the Witwatersrand)
Anthoni van Nieuwkerk (Centre for Defence & Security Management, University of the Witwatersrand)

We gratefully acknowledge the support of the Lifelong Learning Programme of the European Union for the organisation of the two above mentioned workshops and for the creation of this blog.
